About Me I'm passionate about helping others and viewing the world through a diverse lens. This has encouraged me to be a leader in my local community, at work and in the classroom. I hope to pursue a career in law or public policy as I believe these fields suit my strengths and will best allow me to use my communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills to help people. Workplace Experience My love of helping others and bringing the best out of people has seen me gravitate towards leadership positions. At Kmart, I am a back of house facilitator, which requires me to manage a team of up to 12 to unbox deliveries of stock. This role has allowed me to build on my problem-solving skills as every shift contains a variety of different people rostered with their own unique strengths and weaknesses, to match to the delivery of that day. It has also strengthened my communication skills as I deliver "team talks" in which I detail the plan of attack and encourage those with questions to come forward, so I can provide them with the support they need. Furthermore, this position has taught me how to advocate on behalf of others in a respectful manner and how to deliver unexpected or less than optimal responses. VolunteeringI am honoured to serve my community as a basketball coach for Saint Edmund's Basketball Club. Having played at the club since 2006, I know of the important role coaches serve not only as teachers, but as role models and trusted adults. As a coach, I have helped players improve their basketball skills and provide a safe and inclusive environment. The coaching experience involves both the players and their parents, which at times demands resolving disputes between myself and parents. Whilst this is challenging, it does not subtract in the slightest from the joy of watching these players improve and having fun. Education I currently study a bachelor of Laws and International Studies at Deakin University majoring in Politics and Policy Studies. Over the years, I have developed my teamwork and collaboration skills through group assignments and presentations, honed my researching skills through finding quality sources in legal and political databases, and worked on making my written communication more effective and efficient through writing legal memorandums, reports and essays. I look forward to applying and developing these skills in the workplace.
