Working in a fast-paced environment, as both a cashier and a griller, required me to exercise my skills of communication, adaptability, planning and teamwork.

Despite only being in this role for a short time, due to deciding to pursue a Marketing degree, I developed many useful management skills. These included, but were not limited to; > Taking the lead interviewing candidates for promotion> Shift management> Assessing shift performance, and making decisions based on shift performance such as sales and labour.I also followed on from team management skills I developed as a buddy, and was given the opportunity to give formal feedback to staff.

My role as a Buddy Trainer has given me many opportunities, both in and out of the store. The bulk of the my job was training new and existing staff on our products, standards, and values. I involved myself as much as possible with new menu launches, which has meant I was often also asked to train other buddies, and even managers.I have also been a part of the opening team for two restaurants, which in one case was an intensive week of training a full team of Nandocas from scratch, ready to open the store to the public. I found this so rewarding, and it definitely pushed me to improve my own training, and bringing that back to my store.I have also been given the opportunity to ‘parachute’ two other recently opened restaurants, where I was expected to check and help maintain the standards they learned from the opening Buddies.I used this opportunity to work in a many stores across South Yorkshire and the surrounding regions, partially to cultivate and develop professional relationships with team members across the company, but mainly to familiarise myself with new stores, in order to expand my current experiences, and develop a better business understanding from that.

During my time as a cashier I exhibited exceptional customer service skills, and was recognised for developing positive relationships with customers, and sharing this with other team members. I also developed, and was subsequently awarded for my upselling skills, particularly for charity raffle tickets, as it was something I was extremely passionate about. I was nominated for, and chosen to be, a Staff Representative - this role required money and events management, as you manage the tips to organise team building events that suit all staff.
