A graduate of the Hill School of Business and former Executive Director of a local nonprofit, my next chapter in life comes with my return to university to pursue the field of psychology. My personal vision is to look back on my life and appreciate the things I learned, the knowledge I shared, the societal change I impacted, and the memories I created with the people (and pets) I love.In the spring of 2017, I completed my Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and went on to work for Carmichael Outreach as the Communications, Advocacy, and Projects Officer. It had always been my dream to work in the non-profit world, and I am proud to have achieved this dream so quickly after completing my degree. I remained at Carmichael Outreach for the next few years, soon transitioning to the role of Director of Development, and eventually becoming Executive Director at only 25 years old. My time with this incredible organization taught me a great deal about Regina and the extent to which issues relating to mental health, addiction, and trauma impact the well-being of our community. As much as I loved my role at Carmichael Outreach, my priorities shifted when my youngest sister got sick. Striving to balance my family, my job, and my personal well-being, I was forced to take a step back and examine what I truly value in life and what I want my future to look like. That is why I made the difficult decision to leave my career and return to school full-time. Now, I am proud to be a first-year student in the Faculty of Science at the University of Regina studying psychology. I am eager to better understand both the brain and the mind, and gain the knowledge I need to impact positive social change in the areas of trauma, addiction, and mental health. Eventually, I intend to pursue a PHD in the field, which will allow me to spend the rest of my life discovering new things, sharing knowledge with others, and using my work to do whatever I can to make the world a better place. In the meantime, I am seeking part-time remote employment or freelance work in areas relating to writing, proofreading, research, data-entry, voice-work, public speaking, or other opportunities that will allow me to utilize my unique skill-set while earning money to support my education.
