About Rochelle Chapman
Rochelle Chapman is the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Center for Urban Responses to Environmental Stressors (CURES). She is also the Co-Director of the Faith Community Research Network (FCRN) a collaboration between Wayne State University, Karmanos Cancer Institute, the Faith Based Genetic Research Institute, and local churches. She was added to the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships Team weekly engagement meetings. For the past 19 years she has been involved in grassroots organizing and community outreach which includes free resources (food, clothing, school supplies, etc.) for residents. Rev. Rochelle Chapman is the Senior Pastor of New Beginnings Church in Detroit, the city she was born and raised in. She is very active in her community by way of outreach and engagement. She serves on several boards including Oregon State University External Advisory Board, Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Ministerial Advisory Board, Michigan Environmental Council, Detroit Environmental Agenda, Genomic Research Action Council (GRAC) and Ben Carson High School Advisory Board (BCHS). In 2017 she received the Spirit of Detroit Award for her service to the community. Mrs. Chapman is passionate about educating her community. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology, minoring in Religious Studies in May 2021 from WSU. She attended Columbia Theological Seminary and currently is a master's in public health student at WSU School of Medicine.
