I developed a passion for accounting during my schooling years, which opened up an opportunity for me to work for Shell Oil in South Africa for 13 years. During my time at Shell Oil I worked in the accounts payable department for 5 years and then gained experience in the manufacturing, supply and distribution department. At Shell Oil I was able to gain experience in oral and written communication with other departments. I also developed problem solving, leadership, interpersonal and management skills and became proficient in using JDE.In 2003 I took the bold step to migrate to Australia where I was given the opportunity to work as an accounts payable officer for Shell Autoserv. Two years later I took a position with Vicinity Centres where I was promoted to the position of assistant accountant.
