I am project manager in the agri-food sustainability department at Global Nature Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to the protection of nature. The main projects I am involved in focus on adaptation to climate change in agriculture, fomenting biodiversity in urban areas, promoting extensive livestock to favor biodiversity, and collaborating with private companies to develop sustainable production systems. Previously, I was Farm Conservation Program Manager and Land Conservation and Development Associate at Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, Massachusetts, where we helped farmers and other landowners across our 23-town region to protect their land from development. In 2022, we won the Land Trust Alliance National Excellence Award. My experience as a management consultant in rural areas sparked my interest for helping others develop sustainable business initiatives that contribute to the preservation of our natural and cultural heritage. Soon after, as general manager of a campsite business, I designed and implemented a management plan that resulted in over 50% increase in visitors and profits. As director of development for an agricultural-land conservation organization, I planned and conducted stakeholder outreach and fundraising activities across the Northeastern United States. Skills I acquired as director of human resources and through numerous internships and voluntary work include organizing conferences and coordinating vendors, volunteers and speakers at farmers markets and national and international conferences. I am an Environmental Scientist (UAM, 2008, Spain) with Masters Degrees in Sustainable Development and Corporate Responsibility (EOI Business School, 2009) and Rural Development Project Planning and Sustainable Management (UPM, 2010), and a Ph.D. in Geography and Environmental Science and Policy (USF, 2018). My dissertation was a qualitative study on private-land conservation concerning the motivations of agricultural-land owners to conserve their land through the use of conservation easements. Throughout my dissertation work and professional experiences in land conservation, consulting, teaching, business management, and management of human resources, I have engaged with people of all ages and diverse economic, political, religious, cultural and professional backgrounds, and have always supported the development of diverse and inclusive cultures.I regularly attend conferences and participate in panels focused on land conservation, where my expertise is put to good use.
