Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD); Program Evaluation and Research Branch: Supervised data collection in charter schools up for charter renewal, analyzed data and completed various charter school evaluation reports utilized by the school board to help base their renewal decision. Assisted in the training of researchers in coding utilizing Atlas.ti for qualitative analysis, and evaluation report writing for charter schools. Developed and revised data collection instruments and protocols, such as stakeholder interview questionnaires, school observation reflection questions, and focus group questionnaires. Also, conducted research in 2 studies regarding minority students and the achievement gap.

The Earth Institute at Columbia University & Corporacion Andina de Fomento (CAF); Building Innovation Systems in the Andean Countries: A member of a research group analyzing the current state of natural resource-based manufacturing industries (NRBMI); and evaluate the direction and pace of evolution of innovation systems (IS) at the national, sectoral and plant levels in Andean Economies (AE), with a view to elaborate policy proposal for improvements of those innovations systems. Carried out on a solo research study in Bolivia for three months to carry out a survey and other data collecting methodologies to assess innovation and technological progress experiences, and educational training of workers in leading Bolivian companies in the dairy, paper, and metallurgical industries.

Annenberg Foundation and Teachers College, Office of the President; Schools of Education Research Project: Part of a research team in charge of collecting nationwide data on schools of education for a series of policy reports, Educating School Leaders, by Arthur Levine, then president of Teachers College, on the quality of education graduate programs (released in March 2005). • Collected information from 200 catalogs from schools of education in order to examine their admissions requirements, graduation requirements, curriculum, and faculty interests.• Reviewed and analyzed over 80 texts related to schools of education.• Researched and compiled information via internet and libraries.• Created and maintained several databases of approximately 1400 schools of education. • Assisted in the development of measurement instruments based on current issues and theories in education.• Acted as communication liaison with Deans and university administrators.• Analyzed open ended questionnaires using classical content analysis techniques.• Coordinated and collaborated with team members on project details, such as writing and editing literature reviews, compiling and preparing information to present to the author and project coordinator.

The goal of the EDMD Project was to pilot an educational decentralization model that allowed for democratic governance and management of secondary schools in the Republic of Georgia. In collaboration between the Soros Foundation and Teachers College, I participated in a four team research team to conduct research in the Republic of Georgia with the Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF) in order to evaluate an educational decentralization reform and determine implications for future development and expansion by the Georgian government nationwide. A formative objective program evaluation report was developed with a focus on the impact of the EDMD project within the pilot schools, and from those documented outcomes assess the sustainability of decentralization within educational institutions on a national scale. Therefore, the evaluation report provided valuable recommendations and implications for future policy considerations to the OSGF, the Georgian Ministry of Education, and other organizations developing sustainable capacities within education for Georgians.
