About Rocio Werner
My curiosity took me into the winding road of research. From my early days in a neuroscience fish lab, I realized that I found people more interesting. Hence, I began human-centered research in the academic and nonprofit sectors, studying work hazards of immigrant Latino farmworkers and laborers and applying ethnography and survey methodologies. It was refreshing to work with project and community stakeholders. I continued my journey by collaborating with cross-functional teams to build software products to mitigate financial risk and optimize operational efficiency. Exploring beyond these industry sectors, I branched out to provide UX consulting services to tech, small business founders, and agencies wearing multiple hats as a UX designer, strategic advisor, and presenter.After the freelance life, I landed back into the corporate world, focusing on intentional leadership, first as a Senior User Experience Researcher, mentoring design and research teammates and engaging multidisciplinary product teams on strategic initiatives across 5 product verticals in the healthcare industry.Circling back into the world of finance and small businesses, I lead a team of user experience researchers at U.S. Bank in the Business Segment.You'll find me in the UX community co-organizing events for the UXPA Chicago Meetup or speaking at conferences after I've experimented with a research method or coaching framework.When I’m not conducting research, I also enjoy skating, running, traveling, and a good cup of chai.
