With over 10 years teaching Environmental Science and leading outdoor trips for youth and adults, Josh has decided to start his own business teaching the youth and community about how to best manage and utilize our natural resources sustainably

Helping develop & deliver experiential education curriculum for MCCTC's new HS Global Academy: Natural Resource & Wildlife Management that meets Ohio Standards in these four semester focuses: -Urban Forestry-Parks & Recreation-Wildlife & Fisheries-Natural Resource Management

Member of Nature Education Advisory Committee.As Naturalist with the Metroparks I teach school and public programs in areas of Biology, Earth & Environmental Sciences. I also update school curriculum content to meet Ohio content standards in the Sciences. As Naturalist I also plan and lead recreational programs for the general public that range from educational & science-based to hiking, kayaking, history and entertainment.

Taught STEM along with PE along with coaching and substituting. I also worked many of their field trips and Outdoor Education trips from Central Washington to the Olympic Coast. My areas of coaching and mentoring varied from PE games and activities to cross-country skiing to volleyball to backpacking.

-As a GSL Leader I was one of two leaders responsible for a group of 10 high school students in a small mountain village in the highlands of Ecuador during a month long homestay while working on service projects. · Facilitate informational and curricular meetings with student participants and parents/guardians;· Oversee all aspects of the program on site (travel logistics, home-stay arrangements, and program activities), pre-trip curriculum, and language training (if needed); service working with the partner organization; students health and safety; planning and overseeing daily reflection and curricular meetings;· Maintain financial records of expenses incurred during the trip; and· Evaluate the project, submit written comments on students, and turning in all receipts and a budget report -As Outdoor Instructor paired with a faculty member we lead a group of 10 7th graders on a 3-day backpacking venture along Lake Chelan in the Northern Cascades. I have worked this trip the last 3 consecutive years.

I have worked three trips with Explorers West Middle School. The first was 3-day backpacking trip up to the Alpine Lakes Wilderness about 60 miles East of Seattle. I also worked as an instructor for their winter trip; 3 consecutive Fridays snowshoeing in Snoqualimie Pass and building snow shelters. The most recent trip was with 10 seventh graders hiking and doing trail work on the Eastern slopes of the Cascades.

Assure proper diet and nutrition for all trips during the summer season. Keeping food costs low and stay within a given budget. Did a bagging and rations class for all students passing through for the summer. Assisted the transportation, kitchen, facilities, and gear departments as needed. Enjoyed a great mountain town with some fantastic flying fishing and live music.

I help teach and develop programs in and around the Laguna Canyon area for kids from 1st to 6th grade.

I co-lead a group of 6 high school students that performed trail maintenance and park upkeep for 2 weeks outside of Atlanta, GA. We camped along the banks of the Chattahoochee River and even enjoyed a 7 mile canoe trip before a weekend trip in Savanna where we visited Fort Pulaski National Monument and camped among live oaks draped in Spanish moss. My Co-leader & I planned everything from rental cars, to contacting park rangers to budgeting for food, supplies and a recreation trip.

I worked 3 courses with the Dunn School: -Fall junior 7 day backpacking trip in the Southern Sierras -Fall senior 5 day climbing, hiking and rafting-Senior 2 week rafting trip on the Klamath, Trinity & Cal-Salmon Rivers in Northern California

Developed and taught Natural Sciences and ecology to elementary age students at a small 2.5 acre nature center

Attended their 6 days class IV-V guide school and worked for the summer season with them, guiding up to class III-IV whitewater on the Kern River

As an instructor at OCOSS I was responsible for a group of 10-16 5th or 6th graders for 4-5 days at a residential camp in San Bernardino National Forest. Teaching natural sciences, physical education and ecology while in the outdoors hiking, activities and lessons.
