Three Roots Capital ("Three Roots") is a provider of impact capital products that create successful outcomes for client companies and attractive returns for financial partners. The “three roots” in the organization’s name refer to three critical roots of a successful business: (1) capital, (2) connections, and (3) coaching. Three Roots is a Community Development Financial Institution (“CDFI”), certified by the United States Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. Chris' responsibilities include organizational strategy, financial management and reporting, managing the credit review and approval process, and portfolio management.

Capital Bank merged with First Horizon National Corp. (First Tennessee Bank) in December 2017.Capital Bank was a U.S. Southeast regional bank offering a broad range of banking products and services with an operating footprint in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The bank was chartered in 2009 and grew through a combination of customer retention, organic customer growth, and the acquisition of customers and assets from under performing banks. Chris was recruited to this position to join a commercial banking team tasked with building and turning around an under performing commercial and business banking portfolio in East Tennessee. As the Portfolio Manager, Chris' contributions focused on due diligence and underwriting, credit approval, and maintaining the overall health and performance of the portfolio.

The approximately $35 million vintage 2007 venture-style investment fund focused on equity investments in mostly rural areas of the Southeast U.S. with investments in Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Structures included growth equity, subordinated debt, LBO, and change-of-ownership. Although the fund did not have an exclusive industry focus, the fund was active in communications, energy, healthcare, and transportation/logistics. The company used a unique leadership and character development curriculum to challenge participants with personal and professional growth. Chris was an early employee of the company and had various operational and business development responsibilities. The company was initially funded by a family and friends investment group before receiving institutional private equity and subsequently being acquired. Chris' responsibilities included content and product development, project management, business development, budget, hiring, and staff training.
