About Robert Cordero

As the CEO of Grand Street Settlement, I lead a historic $60M+ nonprofit organization that serves over 17,500 low-income families in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, throughout Brooklyn, and in the Bronx, NY. With more than 9 years of experience in this role, I have overseen the quadrupling of our operating budget, the expansion of our youth and early childhood programs, and the strengthening of our community partnerships.My core competencies include strategic planning, financial management, program development, fundraising, and staff development. I am passionate about creating opportunities for those in need and empowering them to achieve their dreams. I have a master's degree in social service administration from the University of Chicago and a health care executive program certificate from UCLA Anderson School of Management. I am also a recipient of the Joan H. Tisch Community Health Prize for my work in urban public health.

This change represented a strong management and organizational structure that positively impacts the community.During this time, our staff and supporters have helped Grand Street undergo immense growth. We now support over 18,000 New Yorkers every year.Our operating budget has quadrupled from $15 Million to $60+ Million. Our youth and early childhood programs have expanded to the neighborhoods of highest need in Brooklyn. We serve as the Community Partner at the Essex Crossing development ensuring that community needs are addressed. And we raised $18M+ with the Board of Directors to fully renovate our 32K square ft LES community center hub.
