CTA Wilson Station Reconstruction, Chicago, IL (2012-present) - Project manager for this estimated $100+ million project involving the design of track, facilities, station and utility infrastructure to reconstruct the Wilson Street Station on the Red and Purple lines of the CTA. The facility was in a state of disrepair due to years of deferred maintenance and does not meet the current ADA requirements. The project includes reconstruction of the tracks on a new elevated structure, signals, communications, power supply, complete rebuild of the commuter station and the addition of a Sunnyside entrance to the platforms.

Rod is the Rail Practice Leader for HNTB’s Great Lakes Division. In his role as Division Rail manager, his responsibilities include the preparation and implementation of the strategic plan and marketing plans; corporate administration and coordination of division rail activities; serve as liaison with other HNTB corporation technical and senior management personnel and the development of new geographic rail markets, new business, and preparation of technical proposals for award of new infrastructure works. He has more than 25 years of experience in the planning, architecture, and construction of transit systems and public buildings in the United States and Asia. He also has strong domestic and international operations and business development experience. While living in Asia for 10 years, Rod was responsible for all rail transit business development and management with all levels of corporate management, governmental agencies, clientele and associates in initiating the rail transit business plans for East Asia, Southern Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.During Rod’s architectural career, he was responsible for design, construction document preparation, public tendering, and making presentations to local and state authorities. He performed preliminary design, planning, cost estimation, site design, interior layouts, materials selection, construction supervision and land-use and zoning analyses.

Responsibilities included establishing regional leads, client contacts, local associates, negotiating teaming arrangements with senior managers and principals and coordinating proposal development, pricing, negotiations; preparing business strategy plans; developing new regional markets, market sectors; preparing market budgets and monitoring cost control. Recommended business development approaches for specific projects; wrote and edited marketing materials; (brochures, text, graphic design, photography); interfaced with governmental agencies and presented Parsons credentials to lending agencies and private corporate project sponsors.
