Having spent my first 14 years in the UAE, life for me as a youngster was different to most and quite relaxed. Coming back to the UK for my GSCE’s was a bit of a shock but all went well. However, with schooling being quite different to what I was used to, I discovered further education was not for me so I decided to build on my life skills and start a career. It took a while as I had several jobs but all were very memorable. I met my current wife in 1995, moved to Leicester and the rest they say is history.After moving I started working for Siemens Nixdorf having settled on I.T. as my long term career path. This really helped hone my skills and after 9 months I moved on to work for Telewest. This is where life changed for me, I met several I.T contractors and the entrepreneur in me started to emerge. My first born was in 1998 so it was now or never and I took the plunge and started contracting.The I.T sector was fast moving, I had several roles but ultimately ended up as a Project Manager. Around 2005 I found myself as a Co-Director of SupportSoft. The SupportSoft story is unusual to say the least, it includes an unintentional startup, an American corporation and ultimately a sale. If you're interested buy me a beer and I’ll tell you all about it.6 months later and a nudge from the very first customer of SupportSoft I started a new I.T company, Intalect in 2005 with my previous Co-Director. The company is doing very well, employs around a dozen people and most of all is something I am very proud of.In 2014 a new opportunity arose which sparked my interest. With Intalect having a great team of people and Richard at the helm I co-founded Proximity Futures, AKA ElephantWiFi. Proximity allows me to get back to my grass roots, developing and conceptualising software based products providing data analytics. It’s 100% self-funded and listening to our customers I know the data we provide is helping to manage urban environments.Personally, work is just an extension of my everyday life, I surround myself with people I enjoy being with and do things I enjoy doing most. In general I have an interest in how things work. You’re more likely to find me on a city break than a full-on beach holiday.
