The Senior classifier in Network TEN's classification department.Duties including classifying TV programmes on TEN, TEN SHAKE, TEN Bold, TEN Peach 10play and Paramount ANZ streaming service P+ to ensure that they meet the requirements of the Free TV Code of Practice and the Australian Classification Act.I also provide advice to TV promotions and programme makers on potential content for broadcast; brief departments on classification issues, including recent new changes to the Free TV Code of Practice; help to provide written responses to complaints to the regulator, the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

As a statutory officer on the Classification Board I classified feature films, DVDs, computer games and magazines for the national classification scheme in line with community standards.The job also included providing advice to the Australian Communications and Media Authority, the Australian Federal Police, state police services and the Australian Customs Service.I served two terms with the Board having been reappointed for a four-year term following the completion of my initial three-year appointment. (Service is restricted to a maximum of seven years.)I served lengthy stints as an acting Senior Classifier, a role that required direct contact with members of the public, commercial applicants and enforcement applicants and the ability to answer their questions about the classification process. I also participated in two international ratings conferences held in Sydney. At the last, in February 2007, I delivered an address about, and answered audience questions on, the Australian classification scheme.I have also been the Board representative on working parties amending the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act, including changes to the film and computer games advertising legislation.I have participated in separate inquiries into community standards including presentations to focus groups in Alice Springs and Sydney in 2004.
