The impact that ones environment can have on their learning is immense. A stimulating and positive environment will enhance your sense of self which in turn will motivate your natural curiosity and give you more confidence to challenge ideals. When we challenge ideals we learn. I have recently had the opportunity to work in a role with staff & students at Dallas Brooks Community Primary School to improve or redevelop their natural and man made environments. For me it is a marriage of several passions; education, digital technologies, gardening/landscape design and making stuff. There are countless opportunities to embed the planning, developing and maintaining of a school's environment (gardens and play area) into many sections of the Australian Curriculum and in particular Inquiry Units. At this stage a Prep Constructive Play area has been completed with the next exciting challenge...To plan, plant and grow a forest!
