Working on various network projects across the Accenture managed RBS network. Each project varies and includes a range of tasks including network management, analysis, design, configuration, implementation and documentation. The role requires wide ranging knowledge of enterprise network requirements and needs excellent communication across all levels of the enterprise environment.

In this role i was responsible for the design and deployment of the new Disaster Recovery site for Aegon's European Data Centre. It involved taking the High Level Design Requirements through to Low Level Design and Implementation and then full failover business testing. Design of the DR site utilised wide ranging technologies including Cisco's Data Centre routing, switching and virtualisation technologies as well as Checkpoint Security and F5 Load Balancing products.

Primarily responsible for the configuration of customer networks from interpretation of high level designs through to low level design and implementation to ensure functionality and quality of service.This includes Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs and High Speed Internet services over MPLS using ATM/ADSL, PDH/SDH, PPP, MLPPP and Ethernet/GigEthernet. An excellent understanding of current Network Design principles is required along with the ability to develop non-standard designs in line with customer requirements, including additional integration of multi-vendor firewalls and voice technologies.Other responsibilities include updating of network management systems and inventories, business as usual support and troubleshooting.

Lead engineer for a number of Head Office site network upgrades for Royal Bank of Scotland.Responsible for design, specification and implementation of revised LAN designs to meet current group standards and remove unsupported legacy equipment.This role required an in-depth understanding of the enterprise environment and the ability to plan and work around the varying requirements of different business units.

Contracted to provide specialist support for the voice and data systems of multiple public and private sector companies. Main responsibilities were for wide area connectivity (leased lines & MPLS), remote connectivity (IPSec & SSL VPNs), voice (Cisco CUCM, IPCC and Unity) and multi site LAN support.

Primarily responsible for support and development of a large Voice and Data Network for Standard Life Assurance Company.This network utilised Cisco Call Manager, IPCC Enterprise and Voice Gateway technologies to provide resilient voice and contact centre services to over 2000 users.It also utilised Cisco enterprise level Routing and Switching equipment to provide both performance and resiliency throughout the network.

System Test and Verification of new Tetra Digital Radio System for regional Police forces throughout the UK.Required detailed knowledge of LAN/WAN and radio components including all routing, switching and transmission infrastructure. Test and verification of radio system functionality for both voice and data. Configuration and management of core network equipment of Cisco 6500 switches and 7200 routers.Document and report testing and functionality results and issues.Verification of functionality and handover to customer.

Support and maintenance for the NTL core data network, managed customer premise equipment and various radio communications systems including UHF and VHF radio for the Police, Fire and Ambulance services.Responsible for installation, maintenance and support of routing, switching and radio equipment to customer premises and core network locations using Cisco, 3Com, Nortel, Alcatel, Lucent and Cisco Routing, Switching and SDH/DWDM transmission equipment.
