The Manitoba Research Network oversees the development and operations of Manitoba’s REI infrastructure - the advanced system of networks and information technology that keep researchers, educators, and innovators at the forefront of technological change. We provide collaborative vision, leadership and operational excellence to the REI sectors, creating value for our members with organizational and operational efficiencies and effectiveness through promotion and operation of leading digital technology. Our role extends nationally with responsibilities to the CANARIE Board and the broader research community internationally.

Supporting the Manitoba Film and Music sectors while developing a larger industry in conjunction with Government. Successfully managing significant change in the organization while engaging with community stakeholders on multiple projects including international business missions. Supporting growth in both local and Indigenous production, including investing in award winning production Little Bird. As the Interim CEO, I managed significant change in the corporation and industry, including the largest production volume growth of over $365 million. Awarded Certified Film Commissioner status by the Association of Film Commissioners International in 2023.

Elected Member for Winnipeg South in January of 2006 into the Canadian Parliament. Was appointed Secretary for Indigenous Affairs by the Prime Minister. Re-elected in both the 2008 and 2011 elections. Retired in October 2015.

Work with University and College administrations, faculties, and students on behalf of the Federal Government. Recently travelled with Governor General on Post Secondary Mission to Brazil.

Was Chair of multi-party parliamentary group, and managed relations with counterparts in the Netherlands. Planned first parliamentary delegation to the Netherlands, and lead mission with group of Canadian parliamentarians.

Appointed to this department by the Prime Minister with direct responsibility for Metis and Non-Status Indians. Oversaw the Office of the Federal Interlocutor with employee base of 1000+. Was Government's key Indigenous leader during historic Aboriginal files including creation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission, ratification of the Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement and the Government of Canada’s Apology. Also had lead role in extending the Canadian Human Rights Act to First Nations People on reserve.

Led the development and launch of Winnipeg's first International Film Festival. Worked with downtown businesses to support tourism and growth. Welcomed film industry from around the world and cultivated both sponsors and volunteers.
