With many completed developments, Lotus Living is currently developing the premium mixed use residential and commercial community of Jubilee in Wyndham Vale with a targeted population of 15,000 is the developer of Silverwoods, Yarrawonga, the UDIA Victorian Masterplanned Development for 2022 a 1,000 lot residential community that integrates the award winning 4.5 star The Sebel Yarrawonga hotel, as well as Black Bull golf course, rated 57 of 1500 courses in Australia.The Bozzo’s have a long and proud history in agriculture with 20,000 acres across 2 states of cropping and livestock, Bridgewater Eggs and Prime Stockfeed which is a specialist producer of poultry and layer feeds for the Victorian market. It provides customized high quality feed to deliver high growth and production rates.

The Australian Centre for Sustainable Business and Development (ACSBD) supports a broad-based research program dedicated to promoting sustainability innovation. It spans fields as diverse as business and commerce, government and public policy, regional economic development, and organisational governance and strategy, as well as the achievement of sustainable communities. The Centre is established at all three USQ campuses – at Springfield, Toowoomba and Hervey Bay – where an innovative community research partnership in economic development and enterprise is underway. I provide ongoing strategic advice and support to the leadership team with a particular focus on integrating ecological values and sustainability principles with existing and new economic and business models including exploring innovative funding mechanisms.

It is a stellar example of a husband and wife team taking an innovative idea in the early 1980s and growing it into a major franchising success story today. While it is a mature brand with a proven service offering, my role is to drive its transformation in the midst of dramatic regulatory reform and support the executive team in positioning Mr Rental for the next decade of growth.Key achievements under my leadership include:• Professionalising the business’ governance including establishing a professional management team able to lead a listed entity• Transforming a traditional franchise operation into a regulated and licenced model that is capital attractive• Supporting the development of a new IT platform to enable intentional, global expansion• Raising $6 million in convertible note funding to support an initial public offering• Supporting the family owners in stepping back and separating their personal holdings from the business’ holdings

Greening Australia is the country’s largest environmental NGO with 400 staff in all Australian states and territories. Its mission is to ‘transform our landscapes’ by delivering a ‘healthy, biodiverse and productive landscape for all Australians to enjoy’. I was President of Greening Australia Ltd and chair of the national governance committee while taking a strong interest in the development of Greening Australia’s carbon business. Today, Greening Australia is better equipped to harness integrated assets and activities to deliver its mission.My journey began by developing an action plan for the Queensland board to future-proof the organisation. On delivering the five-point plan, I was invited to join the board and worked for 15 years to see the plan executed.Some of the key initiatives delivered during my tenure include:• Driving governance development, education and diversity• Reforming Greening Australia from nine dispirited associations into one integrated, national company – One Greening Australia, One Mission, One Team• Leading the final transformation process including overhauling the constitution by unanimous vote (across 80 directors) and embedding a single independent board, with single-stream management• Setting the organisation up for savings of $4.5 million through integration and efficiency gains• Doubling revenue, driving financial independence, removing government untied funding and strengthening governance

The Council was established two years prior to me joining.As the independent Chairman, key achievements included:• Moving the network from a purely operational improvement focus to a strategic outcomes focus• Engaging management at all levels with the forum to shorten implementation timelines• Shifting from a bank-nominated Council membership base to a franchisee-elected one to support the adoption of an effective charter and create the space for an elected franchisee chair to be nominated… making myself redundant as planned

The team’s core mission is to help businesses around the world reduce greenhouse gas emissions, achieve the most from assets, improve operational efficiency, increase returns on investment, and make better decisions about plant, processes and greenhouse gas emissions. Its advanced control systems deliver on the ‘waste not’ principle in power stations, reducing operating costs and extending asset life, offering 5 per cent improvement with a 12-month payback, decreasing CO2, and increasing the reliability and accuracy of carbon reporting and compliance regimes.

I was a lead feature article writer for Aviator Magazine including responsibility for all high-end test flights. It was one of those jobs in life that you’d happily do for nothing (though the pay was adequate) but it kept me engaged in a pursuit I love amid the myriad of corporate roles I was playing. No matter how busy you are, I firmly believe you should make time for your passions.

The business evolved from a small suburban partnership to the most significant regional firm competing head-to-head with CBD-based firms – on the back of its vision to build ‘stories in numbers’ for growth businesses. The team provides astute financial management, strategic business development and innovative financial planning services. My mandate was to build the vision, mission, purpose and values into an effective strategy and hold the team accountable for its execution.Under my mentoring, the business:• Grew revenue by a factor of seven and the team by a factor of five (from eight to 40)• Developed a broader and more innovative range of offerings supported by a clear brand positioning• Implemented a regional influence strategy that engaged all levels of government, business groups and the community• Developed north-west Melbourne’s biggest annual networking event supporting the Victorian Police Kokoda Challenge program

Far Pavilions is a lifestyle retailer that delivers an eclectic and stylish collection of furniture, allowing customers to ‘make every room a journey’. My work was to take an owner-led business with four stores and develop it into a vision-led business with a professional management team, disciplined strategic plan and external advisory board.During my tenure the business:• Strengthened management, built resilient profitability, repositioned the brand and drove accountability throughout the business• Grew from four to 10 stores• Significantly strengthened its disaster management practices – following a devastating fire that destroyed the offices, warehouse and $4 million in stock, the business reopened on the following Monday with a fully-developed recovery plan and secure positions for all staff

I chaired Syndicate 31, which was based in Brisbane and dedicated to entrepreneurial, fast-growth, owner-led businesses. I was privileged to work with a great group of business owners committed to doing and being the best they could be, and I was honored to be welcomed into their lives and their businesses to support their success.

The Money Innovators was an innovative money coaching business that was funded by Greater Visions Ltd – a private equity fund of which I was a director. While having a great model, it lacked the right people to take it to scale and we closed the business in 2005.

I served on the committee of the Franchise Council of Australia for four years. My most significant achievement was successfully chairing the 2004 National Franchise Convention, which attracted more than 600 delegates – the largest and most profitable convention the Council had run.

Jeena Limited is a vision-based firm that ensures every thought, decision and action is consistent with its vision of ‘building wealth intelligently’. My role was to develop and document the vision of the practice with the partners, build the strategic plan and support its implementation. This resulted in the development of a unique approach to integrated wealth management for time poor professionals, business owners and company directors. During my time, the practice grew from nine staff to more than 40 and increased its revenue by a factor of four.

Greater Visions is a private equity fund providing diversified alternative asset class investments to sophisticated investors. I was a founding director, developed the strategic plan and was responsible for the identification of investment opportunities, including a successful ASX listing.
