Creating enjoyable experiences for happy and productive users was a passion of mine long before I learned about UX Design. I specialise in task-focussed productivity tools and strive to simplify and distill complex processes into elegant UI's that help professionals complete jobs efficiently and effectively.For over two decades I have contributed to many software projects in a variety of management, development and design roles. Every project is unique and requires an inclusive design process that is adapted to suit the specific needs of the project. My experience helps me to identify and combine what is possible and what is necessary in each project to create highly enjoyable web, desktop or mobile applications with useful features and intuitive interfaces.I take UX design seriously, but not more seriously than I take the people I work with. Innovation and design flourish when people feel valuable, heard and respected. I have been leading teams of UX and visual designers, writers and researchers for many years and have learned that the best designs are the product of a great team of creative people working together.My deep expert knowledge of user research techniques, interaction-design, prototyping, usability testing and UX engineering allows me to rapidly iterate design ideas from concept drawings, to low-fi wireframes and html/css/js prototypes. I am comfortable using many tools and formats to develop and document complex, interactive design concepts, including pen and paper, whiteboards, wireframing tools or high-fi design applications and will use whatever allows me to most persuasively communicate objectives and specifications across different audiences.In the last 8 years I conducted a large number of UX workshops for novices and professionals in Cape Town and Johannesburg and have extensive experience in coaching and educating project teams in design thinking and UX design concepts and methods. For this purpose I created my own training materials that can be used for one- or two-day face-to-face or remote workshops.
