Revit is a beautiful thing, especially when you use the MEP version for mechanical systems fabrication. Creating 2d drawings with AutoCad was fun; creating 3d drawings with Revit makes my day.

Born in the Midlands of the UK, I grew up in Canada, and returned to England in 1969. My formative schooling was in London and Birmingham, and eventually I graduated in 1981 from The Polytechnic of the Southbank in London, England, with a Diploma in Environmental Engineering. Returning to the Ottawa Canada region in 1987, I worked for Goodkey Weedmark & Associates for three years, left for a short stint at CJ Fox Engineering, and became self-employed circa 1991.I was first introduced to AutoCad in about 1988 and knew from that point onward that my ink pens were relics of a bygone age. Since then I have followed a career that centres around detailed surveys of existing building systems, and the creation of accurate record drawings using AutoCad. This software has been my defining tool for more than 25 years and I still love it as much as when I first used it.My training allows to me to design building systems also, and a major client often tasks me with laboratory refit design involving HVAC and piping layouts. Over the years my understanding of building systems has also allowed me to specialize in the production of Interference Drawings for some of the major Ottawa area contractors.I live in Carleton Place, Ontario – this is about 45 minutes west of central Ottawa – Canada’s Capital city.
