Software engineer with a versatile skillset acquired through eight years of professional experience and a diverse array of personal projects. I am ambitious, eager to learn new technologies, and dedicated to building excellent user experiences. I've always been fascinated by complex systems - both artificial and biological - which led me to achieving a BSc in Neuroscience, after which I was drawn into software engineering by the prospect of being able to creatively design/build such systems, rather than stopping at understanding. On my ensuing professional journey I’ve taken on numerous roles, helping with everything from building a custom UART interface between two RTOS-based microcontrollers, to deploying firmware updates using AWS, to mobile app development and UI design. Recently, I have been leading the firmware design and implementation effort for a new Z-Wave-based sensor, and I capitalized on the opportunity by creating a generic Z-Wave firmware stack for our microcontroller platform, which will accelerate the development of future Z-Wave devices.The allure of creating/developing often keeps me working past office hours on projects of my own choosing. I’m driven by a desire to alleviate day-to-day headaches by finding creative software solutions, all the while expanding my existing skills and increasing the number of tools at my disposal. Most recently, I’ve become captivated by all things Machine Learning, and my interest was piqued by Andrew Ng’s explanations of gradient decent in his corresponding course. I am continuing my online ML training, and hope to utilize this new skill professionally in the future.
