Rod Frank is the Mayor and Chief Elected Official of Strathcona County, Alberta, Canada. His first term was from 2017 to 2021, and he was re-elected for a second term in October of 2021.Mayor Frank feels honoured in his work to make the County’s vision of Canada’s most livable community a reality.Rod has a deep knowledge of the community, moving here in 1963 with his family, and raising his own family here with is wife. He is a long time County schools and sports volunteer.Rod has shown characteristic discipline and calm leadership facing unprecedented challenges of a major recession, the 2018 County Hall crisis, provincial austerity and a 100- year global pandemic.Rod is a lawyer with 30 years of corporate experience. We produce energy and petrochemicals in an environmentally responsible manner, with world-leading carbon capture, emission standards, and co-generation. We are the leading Canadian centre for hydrogen, a fuel of the future.Strathcona County is the center of Alberta's Industrial Heartland - Canada's largest hydrocarbon processing region. It is home to 40-plus world class companies, with a combined total investment of over $30 billion. Strathcona County is also home to 75 per cent of the refining in Western Canada.The County's Beaver Hills Biosphere is an environmental oasis in the region.The capital region that Strathcona County is a part of has a population of over 1.3 million people, produces 30 per cent of Alberta's GDP, and supports over 700,000 jobs.
