As engineering product manager, I have overall responsibility for the design and development of the company’s range of rigid vehicle bodies. This includes management of the design team, ownership of the end to end design and engineering process ensuring that we meet cost and schedule requirements, and to support the commercial sales teams;As part of the role I am driving several key initiatives including: -1) The design and development of a new product range for rigid body vehicles from concept through to production including prototyping;2) The refinement of the current curtain side product lines with the specific aims of delivering a clear reduction in manufacturing costs and the number of warranty issues; 3) The generation of standard product design templates including a centralised repository for vehicle and component designs;4) The development of the engineering personnel through the creation of engineering design guides covering material selection, surface coating application, welding requirements and bolting torque calculations.

As senior design engineer, I oversaw and drove the delivery of the engineering design team based in Manchester producing products for the offshore gas and oil industry . This specifically focused on generating customised solutions to support offshore operations by providing products to protect key underwater cables and pipes from damage during installation and operation. Specific products include bend restrictors, bend stiffeners, abrasion protection and distributed buoyancy;During my time in the role I drove the transformation for the engineering team. Key highlights included: - Implemented the role of product champions within the engineering department to provide clear ownership and control for product updates, templates and designs, which lead to a consistent approach to design methodology and therefore a significant reduced lead time to develop client solutions;  Updated the standard buoyancy products to comply with evolving industry standards to ensure compliance with increasingly stringent structural requirements; Developed and implemented a new series of buoyancy calculations that resulted in a refinement in product tolerance from ±10% range to ±3% allowing the product to be used in safety critical applications without the need for further modifications thereby reducing the cost to clients;  Drove the design, development and implementation of the new J-tube seal product range to allow Balmoral to enter a new critical product sector and provide a complete end to end solution to their customers; Lead the development of a new mooring buoy concept as part of the Shell Stones FPSO project which evolved into the new Balmoral MB60.
