After nearly forty years of university teaching, specialising in medieval and early modern Scottish literature, from 2005 to 2012 I was involved in the development of CricketEurope, a website dedicated to the coverage of Associates and Affiliates cricket. In December 2012 I was elected vice-chairman of the KNCB (Royal Dutch Cricket Union), with responsibility for women's cricket, youth cricket, and development, resigning in July 2015 but returning to the Board under the chairmanship of Betty Timmer five months later and standing down in December 2016. I'm now covering Dutch domestic cricket for TKcricket and writing for Emerging Cricket. I also recently made a comeback to Older Scots Studies, after an interval of more than fifteen years.
