Since retiring from the US Navy in 2007, I have been working tirelessly to build on the leadership skills from my military experience while expanding my business acumen. This has been achieved through various leadership experiences and continued education (both formal and self-taught). An agile approach to the Go To Market strategy is key to charting these waters. A recurring revenue model that easily scales is the goal.- Leaders need to understand the nuts and bolts of the business to be effective. Generalists can be left behind when competing globally in today's markets. - Employees need to be challenged at all levels. It is not just about a great leadership team agreeing on the best strategy. Alignment across the entire company is fundamental to success.- Diversity of thought is uber-valuable and must be cultivated from the top. Well over twenty franchise concepts were examined, with full business plans completed for several franchises.The business owns a 7-Eleven location in Colorado Springs. For this business my role was to track macro sales and market trends in order to optimize the inventory. This included examining product mix, adjusting inventory levels based on business factors. Analysis of labor was also a key component. Ultimately the profitability of the operation was largely successful based on our ability to manage labor costs while optimizing the inventory 'turns'.This experience was a fantastic way to understand business operations at the nuts & bolts level. This has enabled me to hone my sense of profitability when looking at any business scenario.
