It links the M5 Motorway (Prestons) with the M4 Motorway (Eastern Creek) and M2 Motorway (Seven Hills). The Operations Manager position is responsible for the safety of workers and motorists on the M7 through the Traffic Control Room Operations.

Responsibilities:• Real time monitoring of traffic.• Real time management of incidents.• Real time monitoring of Shared Path, for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. This above responsibility is managed through the use of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and technologies, including the following devices:• Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) – allows for real time monitoring of motorway conditions and incidents. • Variable Speed Limit Signs (VSLS) - allows for real time electronic speed reduction during incidents and maintenance activities.• Variable Message Signs (VMS) - allows real time messages to be displayed to motorway users about current motorway conditions. • Motorists Emergency Telephone System - allows for motorists to call for help if they have an emergency on the motorway, and• Traffic Detection Loops – automatically detects incidents on the motorway.

Reported to the General Manager of Interlink Roads, which is the owner and operator of the M5 South West Motorway and E-way tag business in South West Sydney. This is a senior management position within Interlink. The position had responsibility for maintenance budget of $13 million dollars per year, including general maintenance and projects. Long term maintenance strategies were also developed by the team.

Reported to the General Manager of interlink Roads, which is the owner and operator of the M5 South West Motorway and E-way tag business in South West Sydney. This is a senior management position within Interlink. This position was responsible for the safe and continuous operation and revenue of the motorway and business. This team had 60 employees, at the height of cash toll collection, reduced to 30 after cashless tolling introduced. The main challenge in this role was the ever changing work place due to improving technology, along with a number of employees who had high risk jobs. The main role of the M5 Operations manager during this period was to ensure that the customers using the motorway had a smooth and efficient journey as often as possible, including electronically paying the toll. In addition as stronger focus was placed on revenue recovery, and faults within the Tolling system.
