Duties included serving as the Chief Prosecutor for Municipal Court responsible for the effective preparation and prosecution of criminal cases in the Municipal Court, supervision of office staff, reviewed all complaints and offense reports for trials, motions filed with the court and coverage of all pre-trials and hearings conducted in municipal court. Prepared and conducted regular training programs for city officials and/or employees on areas related to municipal operations, court preparation, and ethics. Drafted and amended ordinances and resolutions as needed, rendered legal advice in other aspects of municipal law by written memos and briefs including a working knowledge of the Public Information Act, Texas Local Government Code, and Government, Health and Safety Code. Provided legal representation to assigned departments, which include answering legal inquires, drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, support to city boards, and responding to public information request, which included submissions to the Texas Attorney General Office. Other duties included supervision and training of participants in the City’s Loaner Attorney Program, which is a collaboration between the Plano City Attorney’s Office and a private law firm to provide volunteer attorneys to prosecute on a rotating basis in the City of Plano Municipal Court to obtain courtroom experience. City departments have included: Animal Services, Health and Environmental Services, Library, Property Standards, Public Information, Purchasing, Sustainability/Environmental Waste, Technology Services, Customer and Utility Services, and Emergency Management. Boards and Commissions have included: Library Advisory Board, Animal Advisory Board, Plano Housing Authority, and Building Standards Commission.

Duties included reviewing and analyzing claim files for legal defenses and damages. Drafting and answering written discovery. Attending hearings before the court, taking and defending depositions, and maintaining contact with clients and claims representatives concerning the developments of each case. Preparing and filing removals to federal court, drafting and filing of various motions and pleading, preparing status reports on each case, and negotiating the full and final release and settlement of cases.

Duties included prosecuting misdemeanors in Municipal Court for traffic and non-traffic violations including, the preparation of all pleadings and necessary legal documents for prosecution, interviewing witnesses for bench and jury trials, performing legal research and analysis on a case by case basis and prosecution of FISD truancy cases. Duties also included preparing police cadets for civil process and liability examinations, prosecuting city code violations, as well as advising departments on different legal issues pertaining to city ordinances so they could operate in conformance with laws and other applicable policies/regulations related to effective prosecution and handling of cases in Municipal Court.
