Rodney Simmons is a Broadcast Systems Specialist at KGO-TV. He possess expertise in servers, operating systems, hardware, firewalls, linux and 40 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Rodney is a highly skilled I.T support and network administrator. We did not have any major I.T. outages while he was on board and that is a reflection on his skill, competence and professionalism. He architect-ed the system well and he was on top of every issue and fixed it before it became a major issue. Before he went on vacations or otherwise unavailable, he would ensure that others knew how to respond to minor issues and how to get hold of him if things got bad. Fortunately for us (and him), we did not have to interrupt any of his vacations/trips. Some highlights of his achievements : 1. Responsible for network infrastructure - including routers, switches, hubs, firewall, VPN, production servers, desktop computers, laptops, video cameras, surveillance / security systems and telecommunication equipment. 2. Added approx. 500 new users and 5 new offices in 1 year when business quadrupled in size. Built email servers, migrated users into system. Implemented load balancing on T1 lines to double bandwidth of data connection. Increased capacity of Finance Department by setting up Linux environment running Oracle databases. Opened new sales office in 4 days, setting up PCs, printers, faxes, Internet. 3. Provided on-site support in installation, relocation, modification, diagnosis, and repair of all, equipment, systems and peripheral equipment. 4. Upgraded internal system hardware components and when needed re-built PCs."
