The Thanh Loc Project was born out of the desperate need for education and basic standards of living which I experienced on a visit to the Thanh Loc commune in southern Vietnam in 2008.Thanh Loc commune is a very poor area where many children do not have the opportunity to go to school due to lack of financial resources or the dangers of crossing the volatile canals on nothing more than a piece of floating wood or plastic. Every year we provide scholarships to school children which consist of the full payment of fees, insurances, text books, school bags, and uniforms. We also fund small projects at the local schools, including infrastructure at the schools, construction of water wells, construction of toilets and provision of sporting and computing equipment. In addition to our education based projects we also assist with the construction of houses for poor families and more recently, the construction of bridges. Often families live in the open or under some basic shelter and our houses are the first houses that these families have ever lived in. Helping the people of Thanh Loc commune and surrounds is my passion and a large part of my life is now devoted to developing, planning, funding and implementing our projects.We are always looking for funding partners for our projects.
