Profile bio

About Rodney R. Agayan

My interests lie at the interface between optical physics and biomedical engineering. Exploration in bionanotechnology started during my PhD in which I developed optical tweezers to manipulate microscale and nanoscale hybrid objects of biological interest. My postdoctoral research focused on engineering devices that scaled the mechanical properties of molecular motor proteins from the nano- to the macro-. Other projects involved using the image processing skills I previously developed to improve present-day workflow practices in medical imaging.Present and future goaIs include combining my insight in molecular physics and nanomechanics with new and existing optical-, laser- and imaging-based technologies to improve understanding in DNA synthesis, synthetic biology and biomedicine. As an interdisciplinarian, I hope to encourage creativity and innovation through collaborations with biologists, chemists, mathematicians, engineers and other entrepreneurs.

Listed skills include Optics, Physics, Spectroscopy, Biomedical Engineering, and 46 others.
