I started as Manager managing one person and left as a Senior Director with a team of nearly one hundred.During my tenure at Thomson, the function of Strategic Marketing was created and became the directing force for product development, channel strategy and market segmentation. It was a formative experience to participate in and help lead. My last remit was to lead the Westlaw Academic Segment, which placed, trained and encouraged law students to use and prefer Westlaw over Lexis-Nexis and supplied print and digital products to the law school library. As head of the market segment, I was responsible for achieving revenue and product usage goals. My final act, which continues successfully to this day, was leading a skunk-works team towards the creation of WestlawNext, which launched in 2010 and is the premier legal research platform from Thomson Reuters.
