Us Army Soldier, E-4 Mos O-9S
Arlington, Virginia, Us
Officer Candidate; post 9-11, I joined the Army National Guard at age 33 and 10 months because I was informed by a colleague that I could become an officer only if I was enlisted by my 34th Birthday so I could be commissioned by my 36th birthday. I intended to go full-time active duty after Basic Combat Training (BCT) and get commissioned sooner as it had been a lifelong dream to serve & regret that I had not served my country in the military. I changed that regret! However, prior sports injuries and the rigors of BCT prohibited me from completing my dream of one day becoming at least a Captain in the USArmy. My Drill Sergeants and Battalion Lieutenant Colonel commended me for trying so hard to serve my country but mercifully sent me home with an Entry-Level Discharge. However, I changed one of my few lifelong regrets and had one of the best experiences of my life in Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
