Co-Founder/CtoQuemesa Jul 2016 - Jan 2018During our honeymoon my wife and I came up with an idea to help restaurant owners promote their business at off-peak times: https://www.quemesa.com. Why pay full price at a restaurant that is empty - it's classic yield management based on supply and demand, but for eating out.We moved to Mexico City and launched our MVP beta in April. Working in Spanish was an interesting challenge but 3 months later we had over 10 000 app downloads and 150 restaurants onboard. We pitched (Pitchdech: http://bit.ly/QueMesaMassChallengePitch) and won a place in the MassChallenge Accelerator (one of 35 out of 450 applicants). This helped us pivot multiple times to adapt QM to the Mexican market.Restaurants can communicate with customers, edit their restaurant profile/menu and manage bookings, analytics and promotions in real-time with the SaaS Admin Portal (https://admin.quemesa.com). They can set up a Loyalty System and birthday specials with a few clicks. The consumer and admin web-apps apps are written in Angular2/Typescript/WebAPI/C# and run on Azure with a Cloudflare CDN for security and load-balancing. I architected it to scale with many Azure cloud services from SQL Azure to NoSQL DocumentDB as well as Azure Functions and queues to ensure we can cope with the 23 000 000 potential customers in Mexico City. The consumer (http://bit.ly/QueMesa-Android-App) and admin iOS/Android mobile apps are written with a single code base using Angular2/Typescript/Cordova and Ionic cloud services with an Azure API. When you walk past a restaurant it shows you the current promotions (geofencing/push-notifications). Achievements• Launched a startup in a Mexico City (I cannot explain how challenging this is ;) • Released a Progressive Web App (PWA) to reduce friction - https://m.quemesa.com• Developed a chatbot to allow users to change their passwords• Designed all UX flows• Created a Slackbot to allow sales/support team to query info• Set up the DevOps CI Build Pipeline with VSTS -
Technical LeadRockend Feb 2015 - Mar 2016St Leonards, Nsw, AuPropertyTree (https://www.propertytree.com) is the SaaS Property Management platform from Rockend, the industry leader in real estate software in Australia, written in Angular, ASP.NET, Bootstrap, C#, WebAPI with an Azure cloud services backend using SQL Server and CosmoDB and many 3rd party APIs (Auth0, Xero, REI Forms, SendGrid, MailChimp, Inspection Managers).Besides managing the team of 12, my role was to be the technical lead for all inter-department (Support, Sales, Marketing) strategy meetings. I managed the DevOps team to improve our deployment process/automated builds (TeamCity/Octopus Deploy) and implemented our technical strategy for inter-team development.I left Rockend to get married in Mexico and travel the world for a year on honeymoon.Achievements• Rolled out UX rewrite of PropertyTree under a tight time budget• Scaled up the team for the rewrite by interviewing/hiring developers• Implemented/customised our scrum and bug fixing workflow with Jira• Improved team collaboration with the DevWiki/Confluence and introduced Slack• Improved code quality by implemented code reviews and automation tools• Initiated the technical design of the Ecosystem (multiple Rockend products with single login) • Ran the architectural team to develop migrations process from REST to PropertyTree (WebJobs/automation) using Azure webjobs/storage/queues etc. -
Development ManagerIsolutions International Pty Ltd Nov 2010 - Feb 2015As Development Manager, I managed the development side of the company and lead the Dev Team of 10 as Scrum Master/Technical Lead in the agile development of our products. AMT (Asset Management Tool) is used by global mining companies to track the life-cycle of assets and reduce operational costs. It has a data warehouse component for dashboards and self-BI/SSRS and integrates with ERP systems such as Oracle and SAP via web-services.In addition to my management role, I spent around 70% of my time coding new features and managing product architectural decisions. Over four years the company doubled in size (50+ employees) and I played an integral part in managing the growth of the development team by finding and retaining the right people. No developer resigned in the 5 years I was managing the department. I was responsible for technical strategy and implementation to move from traditional, single-tenanted, Windows-based, on-premise software to a scalable multi-tenanted SaaS web product running in the cloud. This involved hiring the right people, the architecting/design of the software and skilling up the existing team, amongst other things. We decided to temporarily increase dev capacity by setting up an offshore team in Vietnam to complement our core team. I was tasked with setting up the team and the operational challenges of scaling from 10 to 32 developers. Achievements• Converted the company to Agile development• Scaled dev team from 3 developers (I was employee number 13) to 10 local + 22 offshore• Successfully planned and delivered our first Mobile SPA web app on time despite a tight budget• Migrated from SVN to TFS Online and advanced ALM tools to improve quality and efficiency• Improved code quality with Team Coding Standards, guidelines and code reviewsAngular, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Durandal, C#, ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, Azure App Services, Silverlight, WinForms, WPF, WCF, SQL Azure, Cube Browsers, Crystal, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, SAP/Oracle Integration

Founder/Cto/Architect/Developer/SalesPokerdiy.Com Sep 2006 - Nov 2010I left my full-time job to start my own business; a niche social network for poker players who want to find LIVE poker games and record their scores online. With over 60 000 players, PokerDIY is ranked number 1 in Google for many search terms and features integration with desktop league management and many social-networking features. Although the PokerDIY service is still in use since 2010 it is a hobby only for experimenting with new technologies. PokerDIY is a free, global service for: * Finding/scheduling/managing a home poker game (instead of posting on Craigslist/Meetup).* Tracking your home game scores and player stats on your own league scoreboard.* A social network with profiles, albums, events, groups and forums.I was responsible for the complete architecture, scalability, design and development of PokerDIY (Bootstrap, ASP.NET, C#, SQL, Azure), which runs on DotNetNuke (open-source ASP.NET/SQL platform). Revenue came from a freemium model (additional player statistics) and online advertising. I went through many migrations through different technologies over the years such as moving from self-hosted web/SQL to running on the cloud + SQL Azure.Experimenting with new tech after-hours:2010: I wrote a Silverlight app called PokerDIY Tourney Manager for managing a poker tournament which is very popular worldwide to this day - http://www.pokerdiy.com/poker-blinds-timer.aspx 2011: Windows Phone 7 app version of PTM in Metro UX for the launch of Australian WP Store- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_Fd6L-v0rM2014: Android/iOS mobile app with an Azure API/SQL Azure backend for finding and posting live games - http://www.pokerdiy.com/pokerdiy-game-finder-mobile-app2016: I rewrote the core of PokerDIY into a separate app called PokerDIY Tournament Manager to practise APIs and integraing with external systems using Swagger. This was written in Angular/Bootstrap/Azure - http://www.pokerdiytournamentmanager.com
