As Development Manager, I managed the development side of the company and lead the Dev Team of 10 as Scrum Master/Technical Lead in the agile development of our products. AMT (Asset Management Tool) is used by global mining companies to track the life-cycle of assets and reduce operational costs. It has a data warehouse component for dashboards and self-BI/SSRS and integrates with ERP systems such as Oracle and SAP via web-services.In addition to my management role, I spent around 70% of my time coding new features and managing product architectural decisions. I founded Smart-Thinker.com (defunct) to develop and sell “SmartSocial” (ASP.NET/C#/SQL and Web Services), a commercial module for adding social capabilities (profiles, events, status updates and groups) to any DotNetNuke open-source website (Microsoft version of WordPress). It was commercially available until 2009 until I open-sourced it. PokerDIY.com was born as a demo project of how to use the SmartSocial modules on a website.I also provided consultancy services to the DNN community and implemented custom modules and solutions.

As an analyst programmer at this prestigious eCommerce software vendor, I was involved in all stages of the development lifecycle in various in-house software products. I worked on Connecta MC (an n-tier, database independent, end-to-end Request Management console for outsourcers to monitor and control processes from multiple customers).I also worked on Directa (our eProcurement web-based product), used to place requests for services and catalogue goods and written in ASP/SQL with Visual Basic COM calls. Automated the timekeeping process with a VB reporting system based on clock-in times downloaded from the Mainframe Time system.

Designed and developed the Tomahawk Inventory Reduction System to reduce stock inventory levels for vehicle manufacturing using Visual Basic with an Access database backend. It was adopted by Mercedes Benz South Africa a few years later.
