Rodolfo Abreu is a plant ecologist. His research focuses on vegetation recovery in tropical hotspots after the impacts of fire, frost, and invasive species removal. Over last ten years, he conceived, led, and participated in field campaigns leading multidisciplinary and multinational (USA and Brazil) teams of researchers, students, and technicians. Those campaigns included the design of ecological experiments to monitor vegetation dynamics, the measurement of biological and physical variables, and the installation and maintenance of meteorological towers and sensors. He authored and co-authored publications, and presented his work at scientific meetings and invited lectures, focusing on endangered species, invasive species, community ecology, biodiversity, and carbon stored in vegetation. Rodolfo is always aiming to bridge the gap between science and decision-making processes, being one of the founders of the Brazilian Society for Ecological Restoration (SOBRE). While working on his Ph.D. studies at the University of São Paulo, where he graduated with a degree in Environmental Engineering Sciences, he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship that allowed him to conduct research at the University of Florida.
