As a CIO, I "had" a great and brilliant team of 28 people. We had to maintain around 37 systems and 12 projects that help our city hall to plan and to control city resources in a better way. The biggest challenge of this position was to make people work together and follow, as much as possible, the development process while improving and controlling this process.I can proudly say that our city works better because we provided them with quality software developed by a great team, one of the best in our city.I started at this "company" as a project manager, leading a team of 8 guys. We delivered our project on schedule and, due to the good work, I kept working and managing new projects. I ended this job as a CIO, a big recognition of the work I've developed there showing the trust and respect I had with the whole team.Even after political changes in our government I managed to keep myself and my team due to our high technical skills and low political involvement.The biggest challenge working for the government was to understand, translate and make a software that help our customers in a way they couldn't even believe it would be possible. Because internet needs emotion.I was the main developer and system architect.Gengibre, as they say, is a sort of Voice Twitter. Basically we created a micro blogging service based on voice integrating VOIP and WEB.This project was sponsored by Claro, one of the biggest telecom company in Brazil.The highlights of this project were: A marketing campaign for Sony Pictures, and an integration with CBN Brasil.Used technologies: Perl, Asterisk, AGI Scripting, WSDL

When I joined the development team, my first challenge was to stabilize Inova's e-mail platform and help the team to deploy a new cluster for Embratel's Click 21 e-mail service. From coding to Linux clustering, was one of the most defying moments in my career.Later I was promoted to Operations Manager. It was a small team of around 5 people. Our main goals were to keep the Nagios monitoring system as green as possible. Service monitoring, provisioning and support used to be the attributions of my team.A half year prior to leaving Inova, a place I'll always miss, I was asked to take care for a new department what we would call Integrations. My duties were related to the integration of different systems to support Inova's e-mail platform. Most of my team's attributions were to understand our customers' needs (Embratel, Vale do Rio Doce, Oi, Gol linhas aéreas, etc.) and transform it in a viable business, integrating their systems with Inova's products.Technologies involved:Linux Virtual Server, MySQL Clustering, NAS/DAS administration, high availability and scalability environments, DNS, Perl, Objective-C, IBM Websphere Integrations, Nagios / Cacti, Project Management, etc.
