I work with the Tupperware Scheduler team on container orchestration software that runs worldwide in every Facebook datacenter. It's Facebook's private cloud, and it fills a similar role that AWS, Kubernetes, or Google Cloud would at other companies by allocating compute resources for applications to run on and managing their lifecycle.On this team I've had the opportunity to get industry experience with C++, debug and resolve issues in production, help other service owners run their services reliably, learn to use profiling tools to identify and fix performance issues, and so much more.Most recently, I worked cross-functionally with several other teams in infrastructure to deliver a project that saves the company tens of millions of dollars in power costs by addressing the inefficiencies in our server decommissioning automation.

Worked with the News Feed team for a summer building automation for running performance testing against daily software builds. My project collected a variety of metrics from each test to help identify issues with a build and let developers easily compare them with results from previous builds. It was built in primarily in Python and Hack/PHP.

Joined the NX-OS team and used a combination of Python and C to develop software for an embedded system which allowed network engineers to generate complex Cisco switch configurations from a higher level, simpler configuration language that competing switches used.My favorite memory from this internship came from working with another engineer who was developing a Python library which made it easier to control the switch's configuration. The library was written in C, with a layer of Python bindings, and somehow when I tried to use one of the objects I received from the library it caused a null pointer dereference, something I had previously never encountered in Python. I looked at the bindings and read about how Python objects are represented by the interpreter, and suggested to the library engineer that maybe it had something to with forgetting to increment the object's refcount. That turned out to be what the problem was! And I saved the engineer some debugging time and learned something new in the process.
