Rodrigo Vaz is a Director with the upstream research and analysis team focusing on Latin America. Mr. Vaz has roughly 24+ years of experience in the energy industry. He is currently responsible for Latin American business development for S&P Global Commodity Insights, with a focus on Upstream Insight services. Mr. Vaz has extensive knowledge on the upstream value chain, with experience in ESG, Energy Transition, CCUS, market intelligence, market entry strategy, oil and gas supply/demand studies, regulatory insight, portfolio optimization, E&P licensing round and data room support, asset valuation, performance benchmarking, process modeling, and other aboveground issues in the oil and gas value chain. Prior to joining IHS Markit in 2011, Mr. Vaz was a manager for Accenture Consulting, where he was responsible for business development and project delivery at the oil and gas practice for eight years. Prior to Accenture, he spent four years with the Brazilian Nuclear Quality Institute (IBQN), where he was responsible for consulting projects and quality auditing in the nuclear energy sector in Brazil. Educated in Brazil, Mr. Vaz holds a degree in civil and industrial engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, an MBA in management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas University, and a postgraduate degree in energy industry economics from the COPPEAD Graduate School of Business of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. His background also includes international certifications from PMI (project management professional certified) and APICS (basics of supply chain management). Mr. Vaz is based in Rio de Janeiro.
