They will swell by absorbing surrounding water and shrink by releasing water.During this internship, I worked on P-NIPAM (Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)) gels. First, I improved an already existing method of P-NIPAM synthesis. Then, I used a rheometer to study the mechanical properties of the gel when exposed to temperature gradients.

As Reactive Magnetron Sputtering is a complex deposition technique that depends on a large amount of parameters, I spent most of my internship searching for the right conditions for growing stoichiometric ZrN films.
