Rod Riley’s entrepreneurial roots began in 1999 when he and his wife Susan launched Fervent Records, an independent record label and music publishing company that is home to such acclaimed artists as For King & Country, Francesca Battistelli, Sidewalk Prophets, Big Daddy Weave and more. The label and it’s artists have sold more than 8 million albums, 12 million singles and have been nominated for over 100 Dove Awards and 10 Grammy Awards. Originally distributed through Sony Music, Rod sold Fervent to Warner Music Group in 2005. After selling the label and publishing companies, Rod joined the executive team of Warner’s Christian division, Word Entertainment. As the Chief Operating Officer he was instrumental in revitalizing the company’s staff and artist roster as well as aggressively transforming Word’s business model, including launching or acquiring businesses in live events, booking, ticketing, merchandising, e-commerce, sponsorship and films. Rod was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Word in 2010 where he oversaw Word’s entire operation, including A&R, sales, marketing, music publishing, distribution, films and live events. In addition to growing the company’s recorded market share by 38% and being named the BMI Christian Publisher of the Year in his time as CEO, he also continued to diversify the company’s music approach by launching WordCountry, a new publishing division with a roster that focused on country music and has resulted in multiple #1 singles at country radio and the SESAC Country Writer of the Year. Rod also worked directly with Mark Burnett and Roma Downey on a partnership to represent their faith based films and TV shows through multiple music releases and a multi year tour. In 2018, Rod left Word after Warner sold the company and began his second entrepreneurial chapter with a focus on investing in entertainment and real estate assets. He currently is a Special Advisor to Domain Capital Group where he is focused on the investment strategy for Domain’s media and entertainment portfolio that includes film, television and music content. Rod owns and operates Amplify Music Group, a music publishing company and Greenbrier Ventures, a real estate holding company. Additionally, Rod advises his wife Susan on her latest venture as the owner of a Chick-fil-A franchise in downtown Nashville.Rod currently serves on the boards of Gospel Music Association, Museum of the Bible and Sea Gayle Music.
