In my tenure at Work & Co, I have lead multiple (backend) technology teams, with emphasis on these clients: Philz Coffee, CBS/Givewith, Ikea, RedRobin and Gatorade.Since arrival I have engaged in mentoring (leads and other directors) and actively participated in interviewing and evaluating new talent, as well as optimizing internal processes towards company growth.I also participate as an individual contributor being hands-on on internal and external projects.For external projects, I have helped my Team to engineer APIs, model and implement recommendation engines and participate in the full digital product lifecycle from concepting to production maintenance/evolution.

I am responsible for executing the completion of complex digital products with requirements provided by our designers and creative directors.  My primary responsibilities include:* Coaching and managing a diverse set of talented developers and engineers; * Leveraging deep technology knowledge in proprietary and open-source software stacks to create custom solution architectures based on business and design requirements;* Lead in the production quality code using several programming languages.* Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes designers, project managers, product strategists, and other developers.* Set the strategic vision for the user experience with clients.* Drive application development strategy and execution across client properties and platforms*  Guide software development leads to ensure research and designs are well understood by stakeholders.* Provide leadership around software development, e-commerce best practices, user research and innovation, with a focus on strong conceptual thinking that translates into effective implementation of visual designs.* Support and guide team members as they ideate, collaborate, and design new visual experiences through dynamic and cutting edge software development.* I insist on being a hands-on software engineer to augment the team as needed in various roles such as developer, tester, data scientist and DevOps.* Hand-on leadership of data-driven design initiatives including internal and external data-science teams.

At EMC, my job is to technically lead a research team of data scientists to discover and create new technologies and data products. Through investigation and experimentation, I have to examine, evaluate, test discoveries and present research results to scientific and business audiences.I exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluate criteria for obtaining results. I have an extensive background in software development (20 years), with emphasis in Python, C, Javascript and Lua. Now, I am acting as a full-time data scientist. I am also a member of the patent committee board of reviewers at EMC. At present, I am engaged in several projects related to big data analytics, including:* Give coaching and training to customers about ML adoption using Python, SciPy and SciKit-learn * Smart cities: data integration platform* Design and implement an API and an architecture based on RDF PROV to capture the value of data in enterprises

At EMC, my job is to technically lead a research team of data scientists to discover and create new technologies and data products. Through investigation and experimentation, I have to examine, evaluate, test discoveries and present research results to scientific and business audiences.I exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluate criteria for obtaining results. I have an extensive background in software development (20 years), with emphasis in Python, C and Lua. Now, I am acting as a full-time data scientist.At present, I am engaged in several projects related to big data analytics, including:* User segmentation and data-driven content production for broadcasters* simulation applied to Off-shore Logistics for the Oil&Gas Industry * topic mining and sentiment analysis of tweets to identify customer opinion for a Mobile company* business intelligence and predictive analytics aiming at fuel consumption optimization for a passenger transportation company Recently I was invited to join the patent committee board of reviewers at EMC.

At Globo.com, I was involved with the design and evolution of the software (middleware) information platform used by several data products.My team's task was to explore and understand the "big data" content produced by Globo.com against the Internet users interaction patterns, specifically trying to propose ways in which semantic technologies could enhance traditional recommendation approaches. We also evolved and maintained software related to the Semantic Web and RESTful hypermedia API's that leveraged the leadership of Globo.com in the e-News and data journalism business.My attributions were: to keep the homeostasis in my own and in neighbouring teams, to be a technical bridge between interdependent projects, to help the evaluation of new engineering staff, to disseminate knowledge inside and outside the company, and to seek innovative solutions where no one had gone before.

Design and develop embedded software for programmable logic controllers (PLCs), protocol gateways, web front-ends and back-ends, and custom SCADA systems in C++ and Lua. Moreover, I was responsible for renewing the internal IT moving towards Linux and other open-source solutions.

Customer facing consulting, design and development of software solutions for the Telecom Industry and IT in general.

At PUC, I taught the disciplines: Algorithm Analysis, Data Structures and Introductory Programming. These disciplines were taught in Computer Engineering and Computer Science courses. At that time I was pioneer in adopting the Python language for undergraduate courses.
