I am an avid cyclist, dabbling in endurance road cycling and mountain biking especially if it involves raising funds for a cause. I have also competed in amateur motorsport, rugby league, rugby union, American grid iron, baseball, cricket, basketball, and boxing. The sporting activities I have participated in have taught me how to successfully balance the need to learn quickly to be competitive and taking risks. Taking risks inevitably means I have “come a cropper” once in a while. It is a necessary part of growth and success in any endeavour. The learnings from my sporting activities have been of great benefit to my 30+ years of working career in various industry sectors. It has helped me to walk the fine line between taking and managing risks to gain a competitive advantage for organisations I have worked for.As the CEO of ServeGate, a Not-For-Profit organisation focused on helping Micro, Small and Indigenous Businesses (MSIs), I now use my experience and network to assist and mentor Indigenous and Non-Indigenous businesses to successfully navigate their journey to survive, grow, become competitive and eventually become positive contributors to the community and industry.
