I am an avid cyclist, dabbling in endurance road cycling and mountain biking especially if it involves raising funds for a cause. I have also competed in amateur motorsport, rugby league, rugby union, American grid iron, baseball, cricket, basketball, and boxing. The sporting activities I have participated in have taught me how to successfully balance the need to learn quickly to be competitive and taking risks. Taking risks inevitably means I have “come a cropper” once in a while. It is a necessary part of growth and success in any endeavour. The learnings from my sporting activities have been of great benefit to my 30+ years of working career in various industry sectors. It has helped me to walk the fine line between taking and managing risks to gain a competitive advantage for organisations I have worked for.As the CEO of ServeGate, a Not-For-Profit organisation focused on helping Micro, Small and Indigenous Businesses (MSIs), I now use my experience and network to assist and mentor Indigenous and Non-Indigenous businesses to successfully navigate their journey to survive, grow, become competitive and eventually become positive contributors to the community and industry.

He was with SME Gateway Pty Ltd since its inception in 2003 initially as its Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and CFO since July 2010 until his resignation on July 2015.SME Gateway Pty Ltd is an Australian innovation that provides large customers (including federal and state governments) with an efficient and cost effective way to access the services and products of small to medium enterprise (SME) organisations.During his time, it became the most successful collaborative business model in its industry and possibly in Australia. Its primary focus was to overcome the barriers large customers have in engaging SME capabilities.Under his guidance SME Gateway delivered over $130 million of work to the Department of Defence and other Commonwealth Agencies and provided this work to over 190 Australian SMEs. It enabled customers to realise significant savings and at the same time contributed to the growth and maturity of over 100 of its SME members.Due to a change in its philosophy and business direction, Roehl left SME Gateway on the 16th of July 2015
