Roel Heremans is a senior data scientist with over 10 years of industrial experience, specializing in Artificial Intelligence and machine learning, with a background in High Energy Physics. He has a proven track record of writing production-quality analytics code across various domains including Industry 4.0, Smart and Safe cities, and Sports & Entertainment.In his role as a Senior Data Scientist at AGT International from 2015 to 2021, Roel contributed significantly to the development of the first sensor-based bull scoring system for the Professional Bull Riders organization using artificial intelligence. He was responsible for implementing the analytics solution for bull scoring, which involved sensor signal processing, feature extraction of bull parameters, and model building for predicting ride difficulty. Roel also played a key role in various pre-sales activities, proof-of-concepts, and scope definition for projects in sports and entertainment.He also built prototypes and production code for applications in Industry 4.0, including predictive maintenance for heavy machinery and dike stability monitoring. Roel's technical skills include expertise in Python (pandas, scikit, numpy, matplotlib, plotly, ML flow, nltk, pytorch, Hugging Face), SQL, DataBricks, GoogleColab, Runpod, Matlab, C/C++, Bash, and Perl, among others.
