About Roelinde Bakker
I always loved new discoveries, looking beyond the horizon with curiosity, learning how things work and can be improved. This is why innovation in health(care) is the common thread throughout my career. What drives me are equal opportunities for all. In many resource-restricted settings, healthcare quality is low, thereby causing poor patient outcomes. The consequences of poor care, such as in hospital infections or preventable deaths, are visible, but solutions to them are not easy to achieve. My current position as Director SafeCare provides a challenging opportunity to expand SafeCare in Africa and Asia, through public and private partnerships, to achieve quality healthcare for all. SafeCare offers a stepwise approach to improving care at the facility level, while also supporting the broader healthcare ecosystem. I have a background in health sciences. Innovation in health(care) has been the common thread throughout my career. Before joining PharmAccess in 2021, I worked in healthcare procurement, micro insurance, and child health and healthcare innovation in Africa and Asia for amongst others Achmea (a Dutch insurer) and TNO (a Dutch innovation and research institute). My strength lies in connecting ideas and people, building strong and passionate teams and bridge manifold interests. In doing so, I am creating cohesion and clarity about the way forward, needed to realize the assignment together. I am enthusiastic about realizing results that have an impact on patients, healthcare staff and communities.
