Focus on software development, signal processing and data analysis for several applications, including but not limited to:Sound propagation for assessment of impact of underwater noise on marine life for marine pile driving and other sources.Flow noise in marine applications, in cooperation with Marin and University of Twente.

Development and teaching of ICT trainings. Current subjects:Introduction to programming in Python, teaches engineers to program in a modern and open-source general-purpose programming/scripting framework. The course covers structured and object-oriented programming, test-driven development and the use of the popular developing environments Jupyter Notebook and Microsoft Visual Studio Code.Highly evaluated one-day introductory course to the typesetting language LaTeX, preparing PhD students to writing scientific papers and their thesis. The students learn good typesetting practice, as well as some basic programming skills.

Contribution to the development of a software package for measurement data analysis and visualisation in Java ("Trend", see link below), focusing on usability, GUI design and development of post-processing modules for (spectral) data analysis, large data and signal processing. Maintenance, operation and improvement of a laboratory for combustion and acoustics. Acoustic measurements on combustion systems and sensor testing. Design and drawing of housings for electronics and embedded systems.

CFD simulations, windtunnel measurements, trend analysis and development of a tool for systematic tuning of the aerodynamics of a railway pantograph, subsequently proposal for redesign of a railway pantograph

Simulation by CFD of an oscillating thin airfoil at low Reynolds number, for better understanding of the mechanisms by which such an aerofoil can be used for propulsion of e.g. MAV's or aircraft for Mars exploration. Results were presented and published at the 5th International Conference on CFD (iccfd5.org; flab.eng.isas.ac.jp/member/oyama/papers/200807muller.pdf) The research was conducted at prof. Fujii's lab. (FLAB) at the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) (flab.eng.isas.jaxa.jp)
