Roel is Head of IP/ Patent Counsel at BDR Thermea B.V. (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands).Prior to joining BDR, Roel was a Dutch and European Patent Attorney at DeltaPatents (Eindhoven, the Netherlands). At DeltaPatents, Roel's activities included patent creation and prosecution (preparing and filing patent applications, examination proceedings, opposition), general IPR consultancy (exploitation/value extraction, infringement), and account/portfolio management for a variety of customers. At DeltaPatents, Roel was also a very active tutor in courses on the European Patent Convention (EPC) and the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), in particular on substantive and procedural law in the DeltaPatents’ training programs for the D-paper and the Pre-Exam of the EQE (European Qualifying Examination). Roel is (co-)author of the DeltaPatents' Q&A books "Basic Legal Questions for Pre-Exam and Paper D"/ "Basic Legal Questions for the Foundatiopn paper", "Pre-Exam book", "Main Exam Questions for Paper D" and model solutions of Paper D exam papers.After joining BDR, Roel remained active as a tutor for DeltaPatents, albeit at a lower intensity.Roel is (co-)author -besides Cees Mulder- of the books "Topic-Related Index to the EPC and PCT" and "The Cross-Referenced Patent Cooperation Treaty", available from the DeltaPatents' webshop.
