Their ambition to become the leading digital holiday expert requires transforming from operational excellence to a more customer intimacy-based value discipline. Their corporate strategy consists of several levers that each hinge on digital transformation and intelligent use of data.As a senior leadership team member, I was asked to co-develop the data & intelligence strategy and set up and lead a new centralized internal team consisting of 10+ analysts, data scientists & engineers. The centralized team is an in-house data consultancy that manages and improves current enterprise data and develops novel new data products.

OYO Vacation Homes is one of the largest platforms in the European online market for accommodation rentals, such as holiday homes, holiday parks and hotels.My role was to lead Belvilla to compete on Data & Analytics in the vacation rental market, by hiring and managing a new team of data scientists & engineers, developing new analytical data products, enabling internal stakeholders through data and coaching them to use analytics to their advantage.This successfully enabled growth and improved profitability and @Leisure Group ultimately was acquired by OYO (Indian, Softbank-backed) in June 2019 for EUR 369 Million.My responsibilities included:• Developing the organizational Data & Analytics strategy as part of a digital transformation of Belvilla• Build the team: hired and coach a 10+ team of data scientists, data engineers and BI professionals• Driving adoption of data & analytics in the other departments• Managing the team to execute on the data & insights roadmap with focus on: • Business Intelligence & reporting: setting up comprehensive, single source of truth and reliable management & operational reporting • Market intelligence: building a web scraping farm to develop a comprehensive overview of prices and occupancy in the vacation rental market • Sales excellence: improve home owner conversion by developing automated tools including quotation and pricing algorithms. • Revenue Management: initiated the data & analytics components for the newly set up revenue management function • Conversion rate optimization: improving search result ranking to ensure optimum margin from visitorsData Platform consolidation• Operation of data platform and continuous change requests• Cloud migration from legacy MSSQL Server to Google Cloud GCP stack• Consolidation of data platforms of DanCenter (AS400/Cognos) onto new technology stack of Belvilla Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, Tableau)

As a consultant and developer I helped companies leverage the power of the latest web enabled technologies. In the aviation and travel industries I developed electronic booking, pricing and travel time calculation tools. I also did research and development, prototyping and rapid application development for organisations in construction and banking industries (i.e. business performance dashboards, corporate social media applications and electronic form generation tools).Launched several products, such as Pooll, a social ride sharing application. This service was licensed by a consortium of ABN-AMRO, Goudappel Coffeng, Movenience and NedMobiel as part of a tender for large mobility project aimed at the highway A15 near Rotterdam.
