When named SimpsonScarborough’s creative director—the agency’s first—it was already a nationally recognized leader in higher education research and strategy. My task as the creative director, and later as SimpsonScarborough’s v.p., executive creative director, was clear: build a creative division as respected within higher ed as the agency’s research and strategy divisions, ultimately raising the agency’s reputation for creative. Today, SimpsonScarborough is among a small handful of top-tier, full-service higher ed branding, advertising, and marketing agencies in the United States, and one of the fastest growing.-Grew agency creative from one client at start to over 50 colleges and universities in five years-Directed and contributed to award-winning creative for higher education brands and capital campaigns, including Cornell's $5 billion "To do the greatest good" and Cal Poly's "The Power of Doing," the most successful campaign in the California State University system's history-Pre-COVID, established SimpsonScarborough’s Columbus, Ohio, office and managed the transition to a fully remote agency-Worked with agency partners to bring digital services in-house for the first time, through the acquisition of Columbus, Ohio digital agency, Knowble-Helped to grow the agency from a team of 21 in 2017 to almost 70 by June of 2022, including 12 associate creative directors, copywriters, art directors, graphic designers, and video directors-Wrote approximately 50% of all client copy and all copy for agency self promotion, such as case studies-Wrote the agency’s mission and vision, working in partnership with our CEO/Partner, and in collaboration with my counterparts in Research, Strategy, Digital, Media, and Operations-Oversaw 2 agency rebrands in 4 years, as well as 2 agency website redesigns-Grew first year revenues by over 2,000% and second year revenues by 1,000%. In June of 2022, it was announced that the agency had already achieved 2025 revenue goals
