During my time as a Researcher at the FZJ, I prepared my PhD thesis and assisted in the BrainPET 7T projects. I developed a merge sorter for time sorting of events from the digital SiPMs used in the project.I used Matlab and Simulink to build a suitable testbench and developed a model of the digital logic in Simulink. Using Simulink HDL Coder we could then deploy the logic on an FPGA.

During my studies, I gave lessons in multiple different lectures from experimental and theoretical physics, as well as lab curses. This included guiding the students through their weekly excersises, reviewing the students hand-ins and assisting in the corresponding exams.

I did my master thesis in the group of Prof. Bernhard Ketzer in the Helmholtz-Institut für Strahlen- und Kernphysik at University Bonn.During my time there I revised a specialized picoampere meter for monitoring the current on the supply lines of GEM foils. Part of this work was:1) Analysis of the existing analog measurement circuit to identify problems observed in operation2) Design of a new analog domain circuitry, based on a trans-impedance amplifier, that should circumvent the problems found in 1)3) Include a new and better ADC, as well as a temperature sensor for temperature calibration4) Design a new PCB with focus on low leakage currents5) Update the MCU firmware to work with a new compiler and adapt the software to fit the updated components6) Revise the calibration equipment in hardware and software
