Consulting Practice focused on knowledge generation, business development and project management. Contracted with World Bank, Banyan group, Capital Tool Company, Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) - USAID, for work done in Kenya, Senegal, Peru and Tanzania.

Overseeing pension, insurance and capital markets-related projects. The following skills have been proven in the examples listed below: • Knowledge generation: Led teams that: 1) developed and implemented regulation for multi-fund pension scheme in Colombia and risk-based supervision of pensions funds in Brazil; and 2) developed new structured financial products to channel savings towards small and medium enterprises in Peru. • Business development: Designed and secured funding for the implementation of a pilot factoring scheme to improve access to finance for 1,000 micro and small enterprises in Peru. Recommended a mechanism to manage, through a captive company, the reinsurance of catastrophic risk of government assets in Mexico.• Project management: Led team evaluating the impact of a financial literacy program for Brazil covering 880 schools, 24,000 students and their parents; member of a World Bank/IMF team that assessed the soundness of the financial sector in Paraguay.

Oversaw the development and implementation of business, product and distribution solutions for subsidiaries and affiliated companies. Managed knowledge transfer and implementation of best-of-breed initiatives involving product design, process flow, distribution and sales training. Developed and customized product and training programs to meet local cultural and regulatory requirements. Member of the M&A team that reviewed a potential joint venture with a Chinese broker to launch a pensions and mutual fund company in China.

Responsible for overseeing AIG’s pension and related insurance business in Latin America. Board member of the Mexican, Peruvian and Colombian operations. Additional responsibilities included overall business management, setting up budget and sales strategy, and negotiating premiums and quotas with sales representatives. See addendum for country specific experience. • Led AIG’s penetration of the Mexican pension market. In six months found partners – BankBoston and Scotiabank – and negotiated a joint venture agreement, obtained license to operate a pension company, launched AFORE Previnter, and hired management and sales agents. • Re-launched the offshore retirement savings product for expatriates (401 International). This exercise involved negotiating with a third party administrator, incorporating additional investment vehicles, organizing a new booking unit in Bermuda, and implementing a new sales and compensation plan for AIG’s in-house sales force. Subsequently, expanded the product’s reach to local nationals in Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe.

Responsibilities included strategic analyses and competitive assessments of businesses and products for several countries, defining and reviewing product programs, outlining documentation and setting financial performance measurements. See addendum for additional Citibank work history.• Developed and launched GIRE (Citibank’s joint venture with Banca del Lavoro, Credit Lyonnais and Banco Rio) to manage the collection of 1.5 million bills of Argentina’s phone companies. In the first year of operations, the company generated $9.8 million in revenues and $5.6 million of profits. • Defined the investment process for the Argentinean pension company SIEMBRA (joint venture Citibank / Banco Rio) and structured the combined management of all the portfolios of the pension and related insurance business, resulting in annual cost savings of $500,000.• As International Risk Asset Reviewer for the Middle East/Africa, led teams performing independent examinations of credit portfolio health and risk management systems of different Citibank business units in the region and other outside the region reporting the results to senior management.
