For the past two years I have been working in Heals Ltd (Interior Planning and Sales), specialising in High end lighting and contemporary Furniture. My Interior Architectural Consultancy service Nonsense Design Ltd, has been bubbling in the background and has kept me abreast of current trends within the architectural sector. I have a long and established a career in retail (in general), starting off with shops such as Jones and Duffer of St.George when I was still at school, as a Saturday boy.As a result of this, I feel that retail and design really is a part of my DNA, coming from a family of tailors and designers.My role at Debenhams was more in the VM space, but my background is actually much more broadly based – and has been predominantly focused in the luxury brand space.I originally trained as an architect at Bartlett but my entire career has been spent in retail with jobs ranging from Jones (womenswear), Duffer, Charlie Allen and Joe Allen (womenswear), and more recently as Head of Visual Merchandising at Simon Carter across all eight of their stores in London and the South East (and Canada). My role here was to develop central in store creative guidelines for all of the stores, which meant I had to work closely with all teams in each store, to ensure a consistent brand vision across all. My remit also included the development of creative guidelines for display of Simon Carter products in key franchises and display units in stores such as Liberty, Fortnum & Masons and Selfridges.In addition to this, I was employed on a rolling contract basis at Guinevere Interiors on the Kings Road for nine years, from 2004-2013, and had sole responsibility for the development of all window and interior displays, which were updated monthly.
